My College Survivial Guide

A strategy that proved effective for me was consistantly using a calendar to plan and track my responsibilities, which helped me stay oraganized and aware of upcoming deadlines.

One area I still aim to improve is my overall time management, particulary in distrubuting enough time for school work and avoiding last minute work.

A valuable tip I would offer to new students is to identify organizational methods that align with their personal style and to utilize tools like a calendar to maintain structure and consistency.

Time Mangement & Organization

Study skills & Academics

I applied study methods such as active recall and reviewing material consistently rather than passively rereading notes.

When perparing for quizzes and exams, I focused on understanding key concepts, practicing problems, and spacing out my studying sessions over several days.

One academic habit I plan to maintain is studying with intention and consistency to reinforce long-term learning.

Campus Resources

Some campus resources I became familiar with are free student therapy and free tutoring programs.

These resources play a critical role in supporting both students mental well-being and academic success by providing accessible professional guidance.

Utilizing such services can enhance overall performace and help students effectively manage both personal and academic challenges.

Wellness & Balance

Trying to do to much at a time can be pretty stressful. So, one way I manage stress is by taking short breaks and not overloading myself in one sitting.

Sleep and mental health are important because they affect focus and preformance. Lack of sleep or emotional distress could lead to adverse effects to grades and inability to focus on class.

One healthy habit i want to continue is getting enough sleep before exams. That way i'm refreshed, fully focused and not exhausted during an exam.

Communication & Support

I communicate with instructors by metting with them in person during office hours and asking questions after class.

When I need help, I try to speak up early instead of waiting too long.

My support system includes friends, family, and classmates.

Advice to Future Students

Start assignments early, stay oraginized, dont be afraid to ask for help, and find what ways of class apply to you.

A misake i learned from was procrastinating on a big assignment. As a result of me procrastinating I was inable to give the assignment my all and lead to an unfaviorable grade.

I'm proud of my ability to adapt to new classes and challenges.
